Harriett Orcutt was an important writer and booster of Ruskin Florida in its earliest years. She kept many of her articles on early Ruskin life in a scrap book, which is reproduced her because of the importance of her writings. She was well known in turn of the century literary circles and a frequent contributor to newspapers in the upper Midwest and in Florida about life in early Ruskin. She held a unique vantage point as the Secretary for the Ruskin Commongood Society.

Page 1 is an excerpt from an article written by E. A. Moreno of the Florida Grower on early Ruskin history. Page 2 is an internal report by Hubert Buckely, chairman of the Executive Committee of the Ruskin Commongood's Board of Trustees. They appear to have been published together. Based on the internal evidence within the document (e.g. Morris Park is mentioned), it is likely this report was written after 1910 and before 1913. Excellent comments on early Ruskin organization, the college, and the agricultural foundations for the community.

The Harriett Orcutt Scrapbooks are a treasure trove of memorabilia collected by Ruskin pioneer Harriett Orcutt. This document relates comments by W. D. Miller (a son of George Miller) who reviewed the scrapbook in 1973. There are many, many comments on early Ruskin life contained in this summary. The scrapbook is in the possession of Dr. Arthur "Mac" Miller of Ruskin and grandson of Dr. George Miller. Dr. Miller is in discussions with USF Special Collections to preserve the scrapbook.
