This is a recording and edited transcript of An Oral History by A. MacA. “Mac” Miller (MM), grandson of G. McA. Miller first president of Ruskin College.
(Includes a Look at three early Ruskin buildings and their history. These buildings were built and owned by Ruskin’s Founding Families: The Millers and the Dickmans) Mr. Miller was Interviewed by Charles Nelson (CN) of the Southern Hillsborough County History Project on September 5, 2017. The interview was recorded in the space of a two-hour driving tour of Shell Point Road in Ruskin, as well as on US 41 in downtown Ruskin. Text has been edited for clarity although every effort was made to retain the words of Mr. Miller.

Everett, a former Hillsborough County school member, and his wife Sharon, discuss a wide variety of issues relating to Wimauma settlement, history and schooling. The green area on this brochure indicates the location of the original 1961 purchase of land that was to become Sun City Center. Note item #6 in the brochure indicating a rumored super-highway. That super-highway was to be I-75 which was completed in 1985.
Description
This is the 1925 Subdivision Plan filed with the County in order to offer lot sales to begin the planned Sun City, designed to be the HOllywood of the east. Note that the names of all of the streets are named for elements of the Silent Film industry, stars, studios or producer/directors. This plat is on file at the Clerk's Office in Hillsborough County in the Subdivision Book Number 17 on Page 21. Take note, also, that the studio was built in the large area on the east side of the development in section 70A.
